For this element of my project, I intend to create an Instagram profile to market my brand. This is to show off my skills in this region and to document the techniques I use to build a fanbase in this specific genre and target audience.
To begin creation of my social media page, I created an Instagram by the username 'newagerockmagazine' and created a logo using the same text that is presented on the front covers. This to to create a recognisable brand. For starters I created a white background with the text logo over it. I found this extremely boring and decided to bring the same paper overlay used for the front covers over to the profile image. This gave it a more realistic and authentic look. After this, I messed around with the sizing of the text until I was happy with the way Instagram cropped the profile image for me. Here is a video timelapse of how I created this in more detail.
After writing the profile bio and including a link to the website that I intend to make, I started production on a few posts for the account. When doing so, I was sure to keep similar conventions to the other products I have already created. Using the same colour scheme as one of the front covers and keeping the fonts the same. Chopsic and Consolas. To make sure the reader remembers what source they are getting there information from, I included the logo in every post. Not only this, but I also made the logo the biggest peice of text on each post. For consistancy, I decided to make the layout of every post the same. With useful information on the top, logo at the bottom, promotional information on the image and this information repeated in the posts description. If I was to create posts like this for a real industry company, I would ensure to reference my sources in the decription of each post to keep reliability of our information, create transparancy with the audience and also so that any reader does not get mislead with false information on my behalf. Doing so can allow the reader to research for themselves and engage with the community and news of the genre more effectively. This is something I hope to impliment in my website.
Building on this, to further market my brand, I would invest in Instagram's inbuild advertising service where you turn existing posts into promotional adverts that will show up on users recomended pages. Instagram will give these adverts to the respected target audience that I ask of them and the brand would be sure to gain some recognition fast! Especially if the companies budget was larger and able to invest into more ads to reach more accounts of the desired target audience.
As I have used WIX to create websites for 2 years to document my college work, I found using this for this purpose very easy. I had no problems in creating a rough template for an effective magazine template. Although I would have liked to, it was very difficult in creating a product of this style without having lots of information or products to advertise. Therefore, the website may look a little bare. With more time and help from a research team, I strongly believe that I would be able to create website that will appeal to the readers of the New Age Rock Magazine. I would do this by including more in depth articles based of the magazine issues. I would have included links to each months issue, with more information for readers to research. I would also create video recordings of the interviews with the artists so that the readers can see the original source of where our information comes from to improve trust with our information.
The first thing you see when you open the website is the face and name of Maggie Lindemann. She is a very influential and new artist. This will present recognisability to the target audience of teenagers who would have heard of this artist’s new ventures. I strongly believe that this is a great way to engage the audience from the start.
